Biography

Dr. Jane Lovas, transformation strategist, thought leader, author, and speaker is on a mission to cause and elevate 1 million women leaders in tech by 2030.

As the founder of Lovas Consulting, she is a Consultant, Stakeholder Centered Certified Executive/Leadership Coach, Host of the Podcast Leadership Re-Imagined and creator of Clarity Focus Release™, a model to help companies grow by keeping them focused on where they want to go.

A known speaker, Jane tailors her messages to her clients and audiences using personal stories that are delivered with wit and humor. She has facilitated numerous workshops and seminars on change, goals, and various technical subjects. As an adjunct instructor at Leeward Community College and Hawaii Pacific University (HPU), while attending HPU, Jane taught Introduction to Computers. Jane has a BS in Information Systems from Park University in Parkville, MO., and a Master’s of Science in Information Systems from Hawaii Pacific University. She has consulted to companies such as Booz Allen Hamilton Inc., Washington Mutual Inc., Fannie Mae, Nextel Communications, and XO Communications where she has a proven track record of successfully turning around failing projects while improving morale, communication, and team cohesiveness.

Jane is the author of Put Your Big Girl Panties On and Kick Your Fears in the Ass and Co-Author of Seen and Sustained: Best Practices in Communication that Increase the Visibility of Small and Diverse Businesses with Akia Garnett, Mali Phonpadith, and Tamecia Bradshaw..

She is highly skilled at conducting rapid assessments of both personal and organizational needs and priorities, zeroing in on potential problem areas, and recommending and implementing workable solutions for both individuals and corporations. Jane also speaks to Organizations, Leadership groups, and Networking groups on topics that include “Success and Failure”, “Purpose and Passion”, and “Engaged Leaders foster Empowered Employees”.

Jane’s work helps leaders answer the question “Are we trying to solve new paradigm problems with old paradigm thinking?”

Jane has never been one to refuse a challenge. So when challenged by her daughters Jane, an avid skier, decided to learn to snowboard. Her first comment at the end of the run down the beginner’s slope was “I’ve never felt so out of control in my life!” Her second one…. “Let’s do that again!”

I was responsible for the successful creation of a financial model to predict the bank’s risk on various types of mortgages they had in their portfolio.
Objectives: By predicting the amount of risk in their mortgage securities they would be able to minimize the risk through capital investments while also minimizing the amount of capital required to have on hand.
Accomplishments: Created alignment with leadership and the project team around the financial model’s requirements, develop the model and then engage the testing team in developing the test version of the model before the final due date, and the scheduled visit of the financial regulators who were assessing the risk and outcomes.

Description: Software Upgrade delays due to training issues. The upgrade rollout planned across the organization was continually delayed because the consulting staff was resistant to upgrading because no training was being offered. The resistance to the upgrade within the technology department was also causing them to delay upgrading their own computers. However, the software vendor was scheduled to cease support for the previous version.
Objectives: Increase expertise and provide expanded support for the organization to adopt an upgraded technology. Oversee a major software upgrade that was behind schedule.
Accomplishments: Enrolled the administrative support staff in being the point of contact for the new software and training them on the new and critical features that their consultants used regularly. Developed a plan to train the administrative support staff on new features of the software. Created a rollout plan with the technology department. Trained 20 support staff for various teams and divisions. Feedback on the training by both support staff and consultants was very favorable. The organization successfully transitioned to the new technology within 4 weeks.

Description: NetSec, a network security company, needed to be certified as NIST.SP.800.53 (Security and Privacy Controls for Information Systems and Organizations) compliant to enhance their credibility in the market place.
Objectives: Develop and manage a comprehensive compliance plan based on NIST.SP.800.53A (Assessing Security and Privacy Controls in Federal Information Systems and Organizations, Building Effective Assessment Plans) to ensure the client had addressed all updates to regulations and would be ready for review by a certification organization.
Accomplishments: Created a self-assessment plan to ensure that all the requirements within the NIST regulation would be completed. This would allow the formal assessment and certification to be completed as quickly as possible.
Enrolled in the security team in self-assessing their operations, based on the regulations.
